Disappointing elections are well, disappointing. Some Republicans are tempted to throw in the towel, and say, “Aw, what the Heck”.
It is difficult to be enthusiastic following such an election – especially when it seems hard to tell which of the players are “our guys”. But when we consider the alternative: Hillary, Obama, Pelosi, and the disgusting duo of Biden and Durbin, we cannot but continue to raise our voices, support those who really are our guys, and eliminate the wanderers. To do otherwise is to hand our country over to the hate-America crowd, more interested in cultural diversity and political correctness than in preserving this magnificent experiment we call America. Giving up is obviously not an answer, capitulating to the likes of hypocrite John Edwards and the disgusting John Murtha isn’t, either. Our only option is to work harder than the liberals and see that the people we support know what we expect. Our local Republican volunteers continue to do an outstanding job, and it is worth it!
Oh, and one more thing. Harrison County voted strongly Republican in every Statewide and National race. Also, our Dr. Galen McBride handily defeated a past chairman of the county Democratic Party, and Justice Bailey Moseley rolled up a huge win over a millionaire trial lawyer. In fact, 20 of Harrison County’s 25 precincts were solidly Republican in the Governor’s race, giving our party the right to name the election judges for the next 4 years. No longer is it true that a Republican can’t win in Harrison County. We can win, and we are winning – thanks to you.
Dr. Galen McBride’s Thoughts Subsequent To Taking Office
First, let me say that the dominant feeling I experienced upon my election as commissioner of Precinct 4 was gratitude to you and all the others who supported me. I was truly humbled by the number of folks who turned out so early on January 1 for my swearing in.
So far, everyone at the courthouse has tried to help me get my feet on the ground and have been most gracious in the action towards me. One of the things I am trying to do is to be available to my constituents. I can’t count the number of responses to road conditions that I have made. I have already driven most of the roads.
I attended a training school for new county judges and commissioners, conducted last month by the Texas Association of Counties. I was privileged to meet a number of the newly elected judges and commissioners for our State. I do believe that county government is going to be in good hands in the future.
One of the biggest concerns for us is unfunded mandates passed to us by the legislature. We are assured by the legislators that they were aware of the problem and were attempting to address it.
I am doing my best to represent our citizens at the courthouse. I hope folks will continue to contact me. My phone number is 903 935-4348, and my office email address is galenm@co.harrison.tx.us.

We need election judges or alternates in precincts 20, 21 & 24. If you live in one of these precincts and would like to volunteer please let Sam Moseley know. The job is demanding but you can make a big difference in the election process.

We are so grateful to Bailey Moseley for purchasing a new computer printer for our Headquarters. The old printer “bit the dust” on election night. Justice Moseley gave the printer in honor of all the Republican Women and other volunteers who worked so hard to support his campaign. Thank you! Also, Alex and Kay Leibling have generously donated a computer for Headquarters and Tom Solomon of IT Outsource is putting a new hard drive in it. Thanks to these helpful folks!

By the way, did you hear Hillary state that Exxon-Mobil made record profits in the 4th Quarter of 2006 and she plans to “take that money” and develop alternative sources of energy? Exxon-Mobil is a world wide privately-owned company so much of their profit was not generated in the United States. Obviously, she does not believe in the free enterprise system. Also, many workers are in 401k’s and many probably have Exxon-Mobil stock in their portfolio. Free enterprise is about making money. Companies must generate an adequate level of income to provide for employees and remain in business. Shareholders expect and deserve a profit in return for their risks, and when the value of their holdings decline they become upset.
Thanks to all who have contributed to Harrison County Republican Party. Our major continuing expenses are headquarters rent, utilities and postage. Our local party must pay its own way. Please mail donations to P. O. Box 2028, Marshall, 75671.
